Mission of Friends of Clam Lake
Our mission is to protect the health of the water, safety, environment, wildlife, and quality of life of all who live and/or play on Clam Lake through information sharing and taking action on issues which impact Clam Lake.
We accomplish this through:
- Education and dissemination of information
- Advocacy as a nonprofit corporate representative of the public trust
- Taking action on issues which impact Clam Lake through discussion, negotiation, and/or litigation or the support of litigation under the terms of which the organization has standing, or in support of others who have standing, to advance the interests of the public trust as authorized by law
- Support of scientific and technical studies, and obtaining legal opinions, as necessary to foster the mission and goals of the organization
- Independent and neutral analyses of Township, County or other local ordinances or regulations
- Working in partnership with other organizations that advocate the safe and proper use of our water and land resources.
FoCl’s purposes also include broader activities related to environmental education, community preservation, land use, natural resource preservation, scholarship, environmental policy and scientific research in and around Clam Lake and throughout Michigan. This also includes promoting citizen participation in, open access to, fairness and accountability in state and local governmental decision making.
Friends of Clam Lake seeks active participation in all of these efforts from people of all ages, backgrounds, and lifestyles. We are open to all who care about Clam Lake.
